Eagles bolster O-line with signing of former first-rounder
Mekhi Becton Vincent Carchietta-USA TODAY Sports

Jason Kelce may have retired, but the Philadelphia Eagles offensive line should still be plenty formidable next season.

Adam Schefter of ESPN reported on Sunday that former New York Jets offensive tackle Mekhi Becton plans to sign a one-year deal worth up to $5.5 million with the Eagles (pending a physical). Becton is expcted to serve as the swing tackle for the Eagles, Schefter adds.

The 25-year-old Becton was a first-round draft pick by the New York Jets in 2020 (No. 11 overall). While he missed the entire 2022 season because of a knee injury, Becton had a bounce-back year in 2023, starting 16-of-17 games and making a strong impact as a run-blocker (though he did struggle in pass protection).

The Eagles have been known for their stellar offensive line over the last several seasons. The addition of Becton now gives Philly more flexibility on both sides of the line and will hopefully make life easier for the star running back they recently signed.
