While the 2024 NFL season is getting closer, NFL players are finding other things to do in their spare time. But, for some players, it's not just about finding another hobby; it's about creating something special, and that's what one player on the Miami Dolphins is doing.
Raheem Mostert, the Miami Dolphins starting running back and a huge part of why my fantasy football team was so good, has found something he loves. It's special to him, and in doing so, he helps his community.
On Thursday, an event started in Fort Lauderdale, not far from Miami, and lasted until Sunday. We saw several famous people at this event, including NFL players like New York Jets cornerback Sauce Gardner and Mostert himself. This event was a regular season tournament for the Call of Duty League.
The Call of Duty League is an eSports league for the game series Call of Duty, in which a bunch of franchised teams play against one another. They play in regular season tournaments at the location of the host team and ultimately see who is the best team during that time period. On Sunday, the league was hosting the Winners Finals, Losers Finals, and Grand Finals matches. In between one of the matches, the broadcast crew for the CDL caught up with the Dolphins running back.

"I'm a big fan of OpTic," Mostert said when asked who his favorite team is. "I'm also creating my own gaming organization down here in South Florida, trying to give back to the community. I feel like a lot of kids want to get into it."
It does seem that the eSports community is not as big in South Florida as Mostert mentioned. If that's true, then what he is doing is truly special.
